I thought it would be fun to give you guys an update on all the wedding planning because we are officially at the 6 month mark and it's blowing my mind! Time has been flying in general but when you're planning a wedding, it feels like it's going a million times faster.
Checked off the list:
--All of our vendors have been picked at this point except for the cake! I'm in the process of booking a cake tasting or two in November/December. The vendor I booked most recently was our Hair/Make-Up stylists so I've been doing some pretty heavy duty research on hairstyles. It's so hard to pick but I know I want to wear my hair down/half-up half-down.--Bridal shower dates have all been set. I actually am having 3 bridal showers which was sort of unexpected but I have family all over the East Coast! I am having a big shower in upstate New York which is for all of my family. Most of my relatives live up that way! I am having one with just bridesmaids, friends and some family here in Virginia and then another one in South Carolina with Steven's family. It should be a blast!
--Bachelorette Party weekend/location has been picked. We're going to be doing my Bachelorette Party in NYC and I'm SO excited about it. Y'all know NYC is one of my favorite places!
--I have purchased a lot of my bridal accessories already including my veil, my shoes, and my robe for getting ready. I just need to pick a headpiece depending on what hairstyle I go with and some earrings. I also have my rehearsal dinner dress (I ended up buying a different one than the one I talked about before), my dress for one of the bridal showers and a dress for the Bachelorette party!
--We picked up my wedding dress a couple months ago and have already lined up my first fitting in February. I also have my hair/make-up trials that same weekend.
Still to come:
Obviously there are a lot of items that we have to wait to check off until it gets a little bit closer like picking out our menu, sending invites (although I already have those picked), setting up timeline meetings with our venue and vendors, etc.For now, I'm just focusing on ordering some of the small decor items and some of the bridesmaid gifts. One site I majorly recommend if you're getting married is BHLDN. I LOVE all of their decor pieces and gifts. They have such a romantic style which I'm all about! I think I'm going to do a whole separate post when the wedding gets closer on bridesmaid gift ideas.
Another thing I'm torn on is whether or not we should write our own vows. I would love to hear how many of you wrote your own vows!
Hope y'all enjoyed this post! Have a wonderful weekend!
Awwww six months how exciting! It will fly by. Enjoy every moment... Even the planning lol.

Wow! You have gotten a lot done! Good for you. The next 6 months will fly by. We did not write our vows because I was afraid that I would be too nervous, so we did the standard vows. Can't wait to see what you decide to do.

Wow, I can't believe it's only 6mths away, time IS definitely flying! This is so exciting because I believe I first discovered your blog at the beginning of the whole planning process and now, it's all unfolding little by little, which is pretty cool to see :) You really are going to make for such a beautiful bride! Any particular flavors you have in mind in terms of the cake, red velvet, chocolate? Thanks so much for sharing and I hope you have a wonderful weekend ahead, beauty!

I'm actually letting Steven totally decide on the cake flavor (since he hasn't had much of a say in anything else haha)! We both really like lemon and also love almond flavoring!
DeleteWow....so exciting...6 months! We did not write our vows for 2 reasons...we are pretty private and because we were afraid we'd get too emotional. I think it's cool when people do but it kept the pressure off and I'm glad we went the traditional route. Happy weekend gorgeous!
ReplyDeleteI'm so happy for you! Congratulations!! Getting married is one of the best things ever and the 6 months will go so fast! Enjoy & good luck with all the planning: it was the best time of my life! Xx Susanne - http://bagatyou.com

How exciting! It seems like you've done most of it now! You also look beautiful in that photo! :) xx
ReplyDeleteThat's so exciting! Having multiple showers is a great idea. I know that when the time comes for me to start wedding planning, we'll have to do the same because we have friends and family everywhere.
